Bharatiya Janata Party State president B.S. Yeddyurappa on Wednesday expressed confidence about the victory of all the candidates from his party in the elections to the Rajya Sabha from the State and to the Legislative Council from the Legislative Assembly.

The BJP has fielded one candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls and two for the Council polls.

Mr. Yeddyurappa told presspersons here that his party had the required numerical strength to register a comfortable victory for the one Rajya Sabha seat and one Council seat. “For the second Council seat, we are in touch with Independent MLAs,” he said.

On the demand by some parties for putting off the Rajya Sabha elections in the wake of a sting operation by a TV channel showing some MLAs allegedly quoting their price in exchange for vote, Mr. Yeddyurappa said his party was not in favour of it. “What would be the use of putting off the elections? Ultimately, it is the same MLAs who would vote,” he added.EOM
